Known around the world as “The Boogie Man From Hell, MI,” blues singer and guitarist Michael Katon was voted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2014. This past week, however, was the first time he had visited the Historical Museum of Bay County and its MRRL HOF exhibit.

Katon had come to Bay City to appear on the Michigan Music History Podcast that is recorded at the Hall of Fame Studio on the museum’s second floor. Prior to the podcast, I was happy to take him through the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends exhibit and talk at length about the memorabilia that we have displayed as well as the videos we’ve produced about the state’s rock and roll history.
The evening was capped off by the presentation of Katon’s framed MRRL HOF induction certificate. Katon sent this message to me the following day: “Howdy Gary, I sure had a GREAT time Tuesday night!!! You’ve really done a COOL thing there with the MRRL HOF!!! I was really impressed!!! I’m very honored that you have included/inducted me.” Katon's latest album, released on streaming services last November, is "Boogie, Pt. 1 & Pt. 2."
