Thanks to donors like Coonan's Irish Hub, the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame continues to thrive at the Historical Museum of Bay County. I was the "celebrity bartender" last Wednesday, January 28th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM to support one of Bay City’s great local businesses and to say thanks for their generous donation.
It also gave me a chance to say hello to Cooman’s patrons, promote the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends exhibit, and encourage them to visit the beautiful Historical Museum on Washington Avenue.
Coonan’s donated some yearly memberships to the Bay County Historical Society as part of the festivities. They were given to patrons who answered my Bay City rock and roll trivia questions: What month in 1966 did “96 Tears by ? and The Mysterians reach # 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100? (October). What was the name of Bob Seger’s band when he played at the first Bay City Pop Festival at Roll Air Rink in 1969? (Bob Seger System). Madonna spent a good deal of time in Bay City when she was a young girl. What was the name of the Bay City street where her grandmother, Elsie Fortin, lived? (Smith Street).
If you would like to make a donation to the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame, this is how you can do it: Write a check to the Bay County Historical Society and be sure to write on it that it is for the MRRL HOF. Mail to the Historical Museum of Bay County, 321 Washington Avenue, Bay City, MI 48708.
