Birth of Michigan Rock

The Birth of Michigan Rock is a series of chapters that covers the early decades of the rock and roll movement in the state. It was put together from several courses on Michigan rock and roll history that I presented through the OLLI program at Saginaw Valley State University over the years. I used a great number of sources for my classes, but the principal one was David Carson's excellent book on the subject, "Grit, Noise, And Revolution: The Birth of Detroit Rock 'N' Roll." I would highly recommend reading it for an even more in-depth look at the subject.

Michigan Rock and Roll Legends is a totally independent and proudly non-commerical website that is primarily a tribute to the artists and songs of Michigan's first vinyl records era.
